How to Stop Cheque Payment of State Bank of India?

If you want to stop the payment of the cheque after issuing it from the bank account which you have in State Bank of India. Then you can do that using the internet banking feature of the bank. The steps are very simple and they have been discussed here below.
Steps to Stop Cheque Payment of State Bank of India
  • The first thing which you have to do is visit the official website of State Bank of India.
  • Enter your username and password to log in to your internet banking account.
  • Click on e-services option which you can find at the top bar of the internet banking interface.
  • Click on Stop Cheque Payment from the left sidebar of the interface.
  • Select the bank account from which you have issued the cheque.
  • Enter the start number of the cheque leaf.
  • Enter the end number of the cheque leaf.
  • And follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: You will be charged by State Bank of India for stopping the cheque payment. The charges will be shown on your screen which will be deducted from your bank account.

The feature to stop the cheque is available only from 8 AM to 8 PM.

After stopping the cheque payment if you change your mind and now want the payment to be allowed to do then you can revoke the action. The steps to revoke the action are mentioned below.

  • Go to the official website of the State Bank of India.
  • Use your username and password to log in to your internet banking account.
  • Click on e-services and then on Stop Cheque Payment option.
  • Click on Revoke Stop Payment Instructions.
  • And follow the on-screen instructions.
